I don’t know how I discovered this band at all years ago, but it was honestly probably the name. I heard the name and immediately had to check them out. I was not disappointed.

It’s equal parts Dr. Dog with a little bit of fun. thrown in – a lot more poppy than the former and possibly a lot less accessible than the latter.

I’m a pretty big fan of Dr. Dre, and I didn’t want somebody trying to cover his music and not doing it justice. But, for some reason, I clicked the seemingly high-quality video…

These aren’t my top songs of all time or the best songs from these artists, but perhaps you’ll find something here as I list the tracks I listen to the most from said artists. More than anything, I wanted an excuse to get a post done while I’m so busy, and wanted to listen to these tracks. Deal with it!

Review: Lovedrug – Wild Blood

It’s worth noting that the semi-shift in direction isn’t anything near selling out, just perhaps a poor decision in production – it’s something that is a “fan gripe” and something you should be able to get past. We most definitely did, over and over again. It’s a pleasant listen from start to finish and proves that Lovedrug is plenty alive.

Don’t Forget To Visit Your Quiet Place

I don’t know if it’s the message or the music – neither is probably important in this case – but it helps immensely. Take a couple minutes, visit the quiet place, breathe and think of nothing

Forty-four years ago, Leonard Cohen released his first full-length studio album, Songs of Leonard Cohen, and just about a month ago, the man put out his twelfth and highest charting album, Old Ideas. He was 33 years-old when he did this, and I hadn’t even reached the point of being a twinkle in my father’s eye.

Review: Anaïs Mitchell – Young Man In America

Musically, it’s equal parts PJ Harvey and Frank Turner, with masterful instrumentation backing Mitchell’s voice that is both child-like and boisterous in equal parts, if that makes any sense. You’ll likely enjoy her voice immensely, and if you give it plenty of time to digest, you’ll enjoy the message, as well.

Nothing here was pursued on my own, it was recommended by random users on a video game message board. I’m actually surprised that there were so many things I found enjoyable and so few things that I want to murder.

Best Songs Of 2011: Astronautalis, Kendrick Lamar, Ben Marwood & More

2011 was an incredible year for music, and even though it’s now February, it’s never too late to take a look back at the best songs of the year. This is especially true because one of the songs in my top five wasn’t introduced to me until sometime last month, a good couple weeks after the year had ended. Still counts though, right? Of course it does, ya big jerk. Don’t you try and suppress my creativity!
